Things that have helped me to make music (part 1-Books-part 1)
Books! How do we benefit from other people’s experience? Read about it. I’ve learned about loads of things by reading what they’ve been kind enough to share with the rest of us. We could have a long list but I’ll spare you that. Currently I’m both enjoying and being educated by the wisdom of “Mixerman” who is a mixer/engineer/producer who has been there and done it-he has credibility. His books have a wealth of information, technical and otherwise about recording. I’m currently reading for the second time (I’ve dipped in and out on numerous occasions as well) “Musician’s survival guide to a killer record” written with some humour but full of knowledge I (you) can use. He also wrote a humorous tale about recording a fictitious rock band, now available as a podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/7Mt41LeLk5CCw5JLJJEkNJ?si=b04a26c0bd3a4fe8 Here’s a link to his website: https://mixerman.net/ If you’re recording music I thoroughly recommend that you have a look. More book ideas to follow…..
